Candidate Kathrin Bibert is (un) voluntarily
It was a shock for her fans: Kathrin "Katja" Bibert had to leave the format shortly before moving into the candidate villa and the upcoming live shows. The Hamburg-based company signed a management contract shortly before the recall, which would preclude further participation, RTL announced in early March. Bibert did not want to let this sit on his head: "This is a lie. I am very disappointed with 'DSDS' and RTL. The broadcaster relativized Biberts statements that the artist contract was with the "DSDS" team as well as the signed "DSDS" contract. To this day, one statement stands against the other, but nothing has changed in the fact that the recall decision in the Duisburg Landscape Park was made with only eleven instead of twelve candidates. A juror himself made sure that he ended at "DSDS".
Judge Xavier Naidoo kicked out
Xavier Naidoo (48) caused heated discussions with a video from 2018 that was circulating on the Internet. In the clip, he sings, among other things, about alleged dangers posed by migrants. In a statement, Naidoo then dismissed "racial hatred and xenophobia", "even if he sometimes expresses himself emotionally and artistically." RTL was not satisfied with it. Xavier Naidoo has not yet responded to the offer to explain his misleading and contradicting statements plausibly, "the station said in mid-March when asked by spot on news. Unlike Bibert, however, Naidoo showed understanding for his expulsion: "I think they just have to do what they have to do to keep the show going. Corona measures affect live shows
A big theme of the live shows: the corona virus. To reduce the risk of infection, RTL has taken certain security measures that will apply until the end of the season. On the one hand, the candidates' performances take place without an audience and without dancers, and the talents forego mutual approaches such as hugs after their performances. On the other hand, the jury does not sit at the usual jury desk. Instead, Dieter Bohlen, Oana Nechiti (32), Pietro Lombardi (27) and newcomer Florian Silbereisen sit side by side on armchairs.
In the semi-finals, weeks of isolation from families and friends made themselves felt among the candidates: the majority could not hold back their tears with emotional songs. "I think we have never seen so many tears here," said Dieter Bohlen immediately. Because of the excitement of Corona and Xavier Naidoo's kick out, however, a special comeback almost went under in the live shows.
Alexander Klaws celebrates comeback
The first "DSDS" winner Alexander Klaws (36) returned to the beginning of his career as a moderator. "I have proven that a 'DSDS' victory is not a soap bubble, but can be a springboard.
