Beatrice Egli (35) won the tenth season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” in 2013. This year she is celebrating a comeback on the RTL show and is part of the jury for the first time. But that’s not the only highlight for the singer, her new album “Alles in Balance – Leise” will be released on Friday (March 1st). In an interview with the news agency spot on news, she expresses her anticipation for the coming months and says of Dieter Bohlen (70): “It’s nice that we’re starting a new beginning together.”

You took part in “DSDS” over ten years ago. How important was the victory for your career from today’s perspective?

Beatrice Egli: “DSDS” was an important step for me because it all started with it. It is all the more special for me to now return to the origins.

Could you have imagined back then that you would one day sit next to Dieter Bohlen?

Egli: Definitely not. I always thought that I wasn’t ready to advise or evaluate people who had the same dream as me. That’s also the biggest challenge for me: music and a voice are a matter of taste. This doesn’t just have to do with ability – it affects you or it doesn’t affect you. Today I have this experience and at the same time respect for those who have the courage to come to the casting. That’s why I think I can handle it well.

Was RTL’s request a surprise?

Egli: That came up again and again. This time there was a long conversation with Dieter, which was very good – regardless of the topic of “DSDS”. We sat together for several hours and talked. It’s nice that we’re starting a new beginning together.

The 20th season was actually supposed to be the last season. Why do you think it’s good that the show is continuing now?

Egli: “DSDS” offers a huge opportunity. I am convinced that not only the winner benefits from this, but everyone who takes part. If the broadcast time is used to enable people to pursue their dreams, I find that very precious and valuable.

Dieter Bohlen celebrated his “DSDS” comeback in 2023. In your opinion, how important is it that he is back on the jury?

Egli: For me, “DSDS” and Dieter Bohlen simply belong together. When I took part ten years ago, I didn’t know Dieter Bohlen through Modern Talking, I knew him through “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”.

Dieter Bohlen is known for his clear words. What do you want to be like as a jury member? Do you already have concrete ideas?

Egli: My wish is to be fully in the moment. This means giving my undivided attention and honesty to the person who has just gathered up all their courage. But remaining respectful is also important to me. Even if in the end you might have to say: That wasn’t quite my taste.

Who are you most looking forward to seeing on the jury?

Egli: I know Pietro, Loredana and Dieter all well and I find the mix of such diverse personalities exciting. We work in very different genres and, in my opinion, that’s what sets this jury apart. It is also good and important that there are two women on the jury this season.

Because of the show you are also in the public eye. How are you doing with that?

Egli: Balance is the word that always accompanies me. There is a balance that has to be between my private life and of course my career. I am lucky to be able to pursue my calling. I love what I do and thrive in it. But it has definitely become easier for me over the years because my audience’s respect for me as a person has always been there.

They continue the tour in April and May. Will you miss the stage after the tour or are you also looking forward to the jury role on television?

Egli: For me it’s really happening in quick succession. I have my last tour appearance and the next day I’m on the “DSDS” jury. The end of the tour is always a very sad moment for me. I live for the stage and that’s why I enjoy doing this job so much.

The new album mainly contains new versions of old songs. Will there be completely new music soon?

Egli: That’s the plan. But it takes time and space to create new music. And I’ll take it – probably at the end of the year. But first I will enjoy and celebrate what awaits me in the next few weeks and months.

There is a lot coming up for you this year. There is already talk of the “Beatrice Egli Year”. What are you most looking forward to?

Egli: What I’m most happy about is that everything is going so well: “The Beatrice Egli Show” continues, I’m going on tour and we’ve already sold out many cities. And of course the year also has a special highlight: “Germany is looking for the superstar”. I’m very excited to experience “DSDS” again. And above all, to experience it differently.
