The "DSDS" recall takes place on the island of Mykonos. What has changed due to the corona pandemic and Michael Wendler's jury?
The recall of the RTL casting show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" will take place in Greece this year. Last weekend, the jury, 27 candidates and the 82-person crew went to the island of Mykonos. A production spokesman explains that up to the last second there was concern about whether the recall could take place there. But the number of infections in Greece is still at a comparatively low level and there is no travel warning from the Federal Foreign Office.
Premiere for Dieter Bohlen
In addition to Dieter Bohlen, Maite Kelly (40) and Mike Singer (20) will evaluate the performances of the talents. Since pop singer Michael Wendler (48) surprisingly left, the jury has only consisted of three experts. But that doesn't seem to detract from the mood; rather, the jurors are happy that the recall can still be realized outside of Germany. "We are as small a quarantine as a circus that was allowed to travel this year," says Maite Kelly in an interview with RTL.
A lot of thought had been given in advance to where the recall could take place, explains chief juror Dieter Bohlen. "That went as far as the cowshed in Killensen, when everything else should be tight." He is very grateful for the possibility of shooting in the open air. And: "I've never been to Greece before, I really like it here. With the arrival in Greece, nothing more can actually happen to the production." When we're done here, we'll have 95 percent of the season in the can. "
Daily corona tests are a must
A strict hygiene concept applies in order to make it possible to recall the corona pandemic abroad. The team and the candidates were tested for Covid-19 before departure and have previously been quarantined. On Mykonos, tests are carried out daily on the jurors and candidates, as well as on the crew, who wear masks throughout. Corona tests have long been part of the routine for Dieter Bohlen: "I have been tested every day for weeks, that doesn't bother me at all. I hope the pandemic will be over as soon as possible.
Shooting takes place in the old town of Mykonos, in the Little Venice district, in a sunset bar in an old castle ruin and on the beach. The 18th "DSDS" season will then celebrate its premiere in early 2021.
