BERLIN (Reuters) – The German government’s draft 2022 budget foresees just under 100 billion euros in new borrowing, a source familiar with the matter said, meaning the debt ceiling additional amount set by Finance Minister Christian Lindner will not be exceeded.

The special fund of 100 billion euros which must finance the reinforcement of German defense, which Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the creation after the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army, will be financed by a separate bill , said this person.

The draft budget for 2022 is to be considered by the Council of Ministers next Wednesday, along with the budget planning for 2026 and the special fund for the armed forces.
