BERLIN, Jan.6 (Reuters) – Year-on-year price increases in Germany slowed in December for the first time since June but remain above the European Central Bank’s 2% target, the European Central Bank showed on Thursday. first estimate of inflation published by Destatis, the Federal Statistical Office.
The consumer price index calculated according to European standards (HICP) was up 0.3% compared to November and up 5.7% over one year.
Economists polled by Reuters were forecasting an average increase of 0.2% month-on-month and an increase of 5.7% year-on-year. In November, the inflation rate was 6.0% year on year.
