Germany: plunge in trade surplus in March


(CercleFinance.com) – According to data adjusted for seasonal and calendar variations from Destatis, Germany generated a trade surplus of 3.2 billion euros in March, compared to a surplus of 11.1 billion recorded the month previous.

The Federal Statistical Office explains that this sharp month-on-month contraction is the result of both a decrease in German exports (-3.3%) and a roughly symmetrical increase in imports (+ 3.4%).

Exports to Russia fell by 62.3% due to sanctions imposed following the Russian-Ukrainian war, he points out, adding that imports from this country fell by 2.4% in the past. during the same period.
