Boris Pfeiffer († 53) was a member of the German medieval rock band “In Extremo” for over 20 years. Now he died after a Corona demo on Monday evening in Wandlitz near Berlin, as reported by several German media.
Around 200 people demonstrated against the corona measures and a possible vaccination requirement. According to the police, Pfeiffer wanted to break through a police line, whereupon he was stopped by officers. They took his personal details and then let Pfeiffer go on.
A police spokeswoman said Pfeiffer collapsed a short time later on the way to his car. Despite first aid measures, Pfeiffer died in the hospital that same evening. The cause of death is still unclear. An autopsy was ordered.
Bandmates mourn
On Facebook, the members of “In Extremo” shared their sadness at the death of their former bandmate. “It is with dismay and regret that we learned of the death of our long-time companion Boris,” they wrote. «24 years together on stage was more than just a moment. Our thoughts are with his family! We hope you are doing well where you are now!”
Pfeiffer was a member of the band from 1997 to 2021, which mixes medieval fairground music with hard rock. He has played market bagpipe, shawm and nyckelharpa. Last year, however, Pfeiffer went his own way because there were apparently differences with the band. (gin)
