Germany’s IG Metall union calls for 8% wage hike

BERLIN, July 11 (Reuters) – IG Metall, among Germany’s most influential trade unions, on Monday called for an 8% wage hike for some 3.8 million workers in the metal and electrical industry in a context of galloping inflation.

“Employees need a break, including with regard to their bills, which will rise again in 2023,” said union president Jörg Hofmann. (Report Ilona Wissenbach; written by Riham Alkousaa; French version Laetitia Volga, edited by Sophie Louet)
