On February 4th, Heidi Klum is looking for young models again: Here you can find the most important information about the 16th season of "Germany's next top model".

Heidi Klum (47) is starting its 16th season with her model show "Germany's next top model" (from February 4th, every Thursday at 8:15 pm on ProSieben). Right from the start, the first selection of female candidates has to prove their model potential at a fashion show – under the eyes of a great designer icon.

The guest jurors

In 2021, Klum has again brought experts to the side as guest jurors. Designer icon Manfred Thierry Mugler (72) is the starting point. "Mainly I will expect the girls to amaze me, have fun, show strength and be ramparts," the celebrity designer explained beforehand. In the chair of the guest juror he will be followed by Valentina Sampaio (24), star photographers Ellen von Unwerth (67), Rankin (54) and Christian Anwander, and presenter Rebecca Mir (29), "GNTM" winner and model Stefanie Giesinger (24) and comedian Otto Waalkes (72). Klum himself also revealed in an Instagram clip that her brother-in-law Bill Kaulitz (31) is on the show. With his band Tokio Hotel he contributes the title song "White Lies" in collaboration with Vize. Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio (39) revealed her appearance on the show in her own Instagram post.

The models

"Hopefully the viewers now know that 'GNTM' doesn't have to be blonde and blue-eyed. Diversity is very important to me," said Heidi Klum before the start of the season. She is looking for a girl who "has star appeal. A girl who can transform like a chameleon, but still remains authentic. I want to see the joy of the job in her eyes and be enchanted myself." The candidates all bring different stories with them. Chanel (20) from Oer-Erkenschwick explained in a ProSieben interview: "Skin had to be transplanted on my forearm and foot. So far, I've really hardly shown my scars. I want to change that."

Maria (21) from Flensburg is deaf and dreamed of a career as a model as a child. Soulin (20) from Hamburg fled the war from Syria nine years ago and has now been in Germany for five years. Maria-Sophie (19) from Konstanz wants to fight for victory with a height of 1.55 meters. Also there are: Alex (23) from Cologne, Lena (21) from Main-Spessart, Romy (19) from Görlitz, Dascha (20) from Solingen, Ashley (22) from Munich and Mareike (25) from Halle (Saale). The latter had to give up her career in the German national basketball team due to an injury.

The concept

At the start of the 16th season, Heidi Klum's candidates run their first major fashion show. They will present the clothes of the Munich fashion designer Irene Luft in the Berlin Theater on Potsdamer Platz. 31 girls have been invited to Berlin for the first episode. They all want to end up on the coveted title of "Harper's Bazaar".

Production has adapted to the conditions in the pandemic. For the first time in the history of the show, it will only be shot in Europe, as ProSieben announced last October. The models will travel to the "most exciting fashion capitals and the most breathtaking places in Europe". The film was also shot with a close-knit and comprehensive hygiene concept. Among other things, all top model candidates were in quarantine before shooting began and were regularly tested during the shoot. All jurors, coaches, guests, photographers and designers were also tested before shooting.
