Blackheads on the skin are our pet peeve! These impurities appear on the face, mainly on the T zone, that is to say on the nose, forehead or chin. Not really pimples, these skin manifestations are also called "open comedones" and exist in cases of acne or large pores. These are fatty deposits that accumulate in the pores of the skin on the T zone, an area at risk because it is naturally richer in sebum. On contact with the air and bacteria present on the surface of the face, this excess sebum oxidizes and takes on this black color (sometimes with a white tip). Add a few dead cells from lack of exfoliation and the traffic jam is guaranteed! Finished the beautiful skin, place with the imperfections localized on the face.

The urge is then to remove blackheads by piercing them or to use an unsuitable beauty product. Because when we see blackheads we have only one desire: to eliminate them from the surface of our skin. We dream of a Karcher cleanser or an erasing mask capable of removing those blackheads and other comedones. But that's not necessarily the idea of the century. Discover now our advice, our homemade masks and the good beauty products to adopt each week to display a clear skin without imperfections!

Blackheads … a question of hygiene?

Dilated pores, excess sebum and explosion of blackheads… Certain unsuitable cleaning products or scrubs that are too intense to remove dead cells can indeed accelerate the phenomenon; but the appearance of blackheads is not necessarily related to poor hygiene. It is above all a question of hormones (as with acne) and above all an overproduction of sebum.

The sebum is first there to create a protective layer on the skin. But, in excess, it clogs the pores. Of course, adolescents are the first to be affected (especially if they do not use suitable skincare products) but also certain types of skin, such as oily and combination skin in women. Men, with beards or not, are equally affected. Because even if shaving provides frequent mechanical exfoliation, men's skin can show it on the tip of the nose or on the cheeks (even with a beard). Blackheads are insidious and can also lodge in other parts of the face (such as near the ears or at the edges of the hair) or elsewhere on the body (upper back, chest or legs …).

So, how to remove blackheads and tighten pores? Are there miracle solutions, erasing masks to find smooth, streak-free skin?

Natural (and easy) solutions against comedones

First prepare your skin:

Before starting to grind your blackheads it is important to prepare your skin. The ideal? Recreate at home a "sauna" effect to allow the pores of the skin to dilate. For this, you can take a hot bath (with the door closed) or you can use the old pan method. Boil some water and, once removed from the plate, place your face over the hot water (with a cloth or towel over your head). To maximize the effectiveness of this facial sauna, you can add a few drops of tea tree, a few sage leaves or lemon slices. Finally, even simpler, soak a cotton ball in very hot water (with a few drops of tea tree) and place it on the area to be treated, for example the tip of the nose or the wings of the nose. Faster, but slightly less efficient too.

Then choose your anti blackhead ingredient:
Many natural recipes or grandmother's remedies have purifying and sanitizing properties. Among them, here are some recognized stars that can be used on all skin with imperfections, as well those of teenagers, women or men (with beard or not). Here are some tips to know, easy to apply (allow about ten minutes for each). You can devote yourself to it once or twice a week.

Baking soda or rhassoul: to mix with a teaspoon of water to create a paste to leave on.

The lemon : this great disinfectant can be used alone (as a juice to put on a cotton ball or an old toothbrush) or mixed with egg white (which tightens pores). Soak the affected area.

Salt : to mix with a little olive oil to create a natural peeling product.

Green or white clay: a teaspoon to mix with a spoon of yogurt with lemon juice. You can add two drops of citrus limon essential oil if you wish. Apply the resulting paste to the affected area.

Potato or tomato: pass a slice of potato or tomato (depending on the season) directly on the blackheads. Do not do it in prevention, it does not work.

Menthol toothpaste: mix with a teaspoon of salt or baking soda (to exfoliate) and a little water (to create a paste texture). To be placed on clean skin for a few minutes while the mixture dries.

Note: take care to keep very gentle gestures when rinsing so as not to overexcite the sebaceous glands which would then produce even more sebum. Our advices ? After the exposure time, rinse with lukewarm water and pat gently to dry. Apply these mask and cleanser recipes only to areas affected by blackheads. No need to spill over the rest of the face.

How to extract blackheads?

Black dots are like scratch cards, you can't be sure you'll win every time! Because you should not remove the black point anyhow.

First we prepare our skin, then we treat the blackheads (see paragraph above).
Our advices : avoid unnecessary aggressions (such as coarse scrubs).

Finally, if you want to remove them on your own (without going through the beautician's box), clean your hands and … have at least a paper handkerchief or two cotton swabs. Never directly with the fingernails. What to think of the comedone remover? It can help you extract blackheads as long as you disinfect the device well after each use to avoid the victorious dance of bacteria. Don't overdo it either, all blackhead extractors have the annoying habit of enlarging pores. Patches can also be a solution … provided you don't have sensitive skin around the area to be treated. In any case, then remember to disinfect well with an antiseptic solution (or with hazelnut vegetable oil and a few drops and tea tree).

If in doubt, entrust your face to the expert hands of a beautician who will remove all your blackheads (even those still invisible) perfectly well without risk!

And after, what care against the return of the comedo to adopt?

It is important to adapt your lifestyle to avoid any recurrence.
Already rule number one, if you tend to produce a lot of blackheads, check your creams. Are they well suited to your needs? To be sure, you can choose the non-comedogenic option the next time you buy. This is already a good guarantee for all oily and combination skin prone to acne. Then choose soft and rebalancing cosmetics (alcohol-free). For example, by switching tonic lotions with alcohol with lavender or rosemary hydrosols. Concentrate on the cleansing step of the skin without stripping it (with foams to be used with water, milk or oily products according to your tastes) and bet on treatments containing salicylic acid.

Food side, avoid sugars and fats (except good fats such as oily fish) and favor zinc (even in the form of food supplements).

Finally, beware of the sun which thickens the stratum corneum with a disastrous rebound effect.
