(Boursier.com) — getlink and Groupe CAT announce the launch of a new cross-Channel rail freight service on behalf of Toyota, for a period of 6 years, between Toton (UK) and Kolin (CZ) via Onnaing (FR). This new traffic alone represents cross-Channel freight growth of +15%, on a like-for-like basis, compared to 2021. It will make it possible to significantly reduce CO2 emissions by favoring the modal shift of more than 8,500 trucks per year to rail and thus avoid the emission of more than 8,000 tonnes of CO2. The CAT Group, European leader in vehicle logistics, will transport on behalf of Toyota up to 70,000 cars per year, at the rate of 6 weekly frequencies, ie 270 trains between the Derby plant and that of Valenciennes. Eurotunnel, expert in the management of the strategic border infrastructure of the Channel Tunnel, will ensure the crossing of these convoys of vehicles with the quality requirements expected by Toyota.
