Assault on the Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. He was tied up and injured in a burglary at his home in Paris.

Moment of shock for the Italian national goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (24). The football professional in the service of the capital club Paris Saint-Germain was attacked and robbed in the night from Thursday to Friday. As initially reported by the French news portal “Actu17”, the Italian’s house was broken into. Donnarumma and his partner were therefore on site and tied up by the intruders. According to media reports, the goalkeeper even had to be hospitalized afterwards.

As “Le Parisien” also reports, the two are said to have been threatened with a gun by the criminals. Donnarumma was slightly injured in the attack, his girlfriend survived everything physically unscathed. According to the French reports, a special unit of the Paris criminal police has now taken over the investigation and is currently looking for “several people” in connection with the burglary. The raid took place in the 8th arrondissement of the French capital.

Loot worth around 500,000 euros stolen

The staff of a neighboring hotel alerted the police, it is said. Donnarumma and his partner fled there after they were able to get rid of their bonds. The perpetrators had stolen loot worth around 500,000 euros, which, according to a police report, consisted of “luxury watches, jewelery and leather goods”. However, the exact amount is still being determined.

24-year-old Donnarumma is considered one of the greatest goalkeeping talents in the world. Despite his young age, he was already named World Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021. At the age of 16 he was already between the posts at the traditional Italian club AC Milan and was already a European champion with the Squadra Azzura as a first-choice goalkeeper. After 215 games for Milan, he moved to Paris in 2021 and has been French champion twice so far.
