No trace of fatigue: just two days after her victory in the Super-G in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the Ticino woman is once again on top of the podium in the giant slalom in Kronplatz. And the 32-year-old delivered a demonstration of power.

After the first round she was 59 hundredths ahead, but in the end it was 1.09 seconds. Even a moment of shock shortly before the finish didn’t faze her. For Gut-Behrami it was the 42nd World Cup victory; only Vreni Schneider (55) is ahead of her in Switzerland.

Alice Robinson and Sarah Hector, both of whom had already been on the podium in the last giant slalom in Jasna (SVK), were ranked second at the same time.

The other Swiss women in the points

8. Camille Rast +1.96

20. Simone Wild +3.17

Next top 10 result for Camille Rast: After 9th place in Jasna (SVK), the Valaisian improved again and came 8th. After a strong start, the slalom specialist lost time in the middle section, but was able to improve again in the final section and ultimately gained over 10 places in the second round. For Rast it was the second best giant slalom result of his career after a 7th place in Lienz 2021.

However, things didn’t go as planned for Simone Wild, who crossed the finish line in the second round more than 1 second behind. However, due to various failures, she still made up one place in the final standings and also scored points in the second race after her comeback from Jasna.

Italian rivalry

The second round in the Kronplatz home game showed that Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone are not necessarily the best of friends. Brignone missed Goggia’s best time by 6 hundredths and was terribly upset because of it. Goggia, on the other hand, couldn’t help but smile on the leader’s throne. In the end we finished 5th and 6th.
