And if the choice of your future Graphic card depended on aesthetic criteria rather than performance criteria?

A few days after Inno3D’s Computex 2023 announcement, another graphics card manufacturer has decided to completely hide the power cables… with an extremely similar solution!

An RTX 4090 in version “2.0”

This second manufacturer is the Taiwanese Gigabyte and the card in question is a GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce whose main asset is obviously the computing power. Since the release of the first model, in September 2022, the card remains the most powerful available.

A good place that did not prevent Gigabyte from thinking about improving its card. The WindForce Rev 2 is now on the market and if the card looks quite similar with its three 92 millimeter fans on the front and an imposing design that makes it measure 33.1 centimeters long, there is change in the air.

To discover the novelty of this Rev 2, you have to turn the card and it is mainly when installing it in the PC that the change made by Gigabyte is important.

The heatsink passed to the grinder?

Indeed, like what Inno3D did on its RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4070 “AXGaming”, the power socket is remote here. The heatsink has been cut over a good part in order to offset the 12VHPWR connector.

Gigabyte has actually opted for the cabling and connectors introduced by NVIDIA on the release of its cards rather than for more traditional 8 pins. It should also be noted that unlike Inno3D which has clearly announced the release of its models, Gigabyte seems to want to be more discreet: present on the manufacturer’s official website, the WindForce Rev 2 has not benefited from any advertising campaign.

However, the card is already on sale in China and photos are an opportunity to see that the cutout allows direct access to the connector, more than on the Inno3D models. Moreover, the Rev 2 is as we said as long, but also a little narrower (13.6 vs 15 cm) and a little thinner (5.5 vs 7 cm) than the original card.
