A mythical frequency threshold reached in a few clicks… on a processor very high end though.
Since the first announcements from Intel and our test of the Core i9-13900K, we knew that the beefy Raptor Lake range is a processor capable of reaching high frequencies. L’overclocking record achieved by a Swede has confirmed it and Gigabyte has just driven the point home.
A few clicks in the BIOS
Confident that all buyers of Core i9-13900K processors will be able to reach 6 GHz, Gigabyte has just announced the deployment of a new BIOS for its Z790 motherboards. A BIOS with Instant 6 GHz technology from Gigabyte.
The objective is clear: to pass the processor to the frequency of 6 GHz in a few clicks. Gigabyte announces performance increase, in the best case, of 3% on applications single thread. One reason for this, the 6 GHz in question is limited to the two fastest cores.
Gigabyte explains that the Instant 6 GHz is thus able to automatically adjust the voltage of the CPU and the calibration of the Vcore load line to detect which of the 8 powerful cores are to be used to reach this frequency.
One more step to reach a overclocking – limited to 6 GHz therefore – without effort, which Gigabyte however reserves for the Core i9-13900K and its Z790 motherboards.
