The president of the executive council of Corsica returned, Friday March 11 on RMC, to the clashes in Bastia following the attempted assassination of Yvan Colonna in prison. He also insinuated that the state could have a connection with this attack.
An interview that will make people talk. Faced with Apolline de Malherbe, on RMC, the president of the executive council of Corsica Gilles Simeoni explained that he had spoken to Prime Minister Jean Castex on the situation in Corsica: “We took stock of the situation and I told him that the most effective way to bring about lasting peace is to provide the answers requested by a large majority of Corsicans. Yvan Colonna’s former lawyer also declared that “an Islamist tortured Yvan Colonna for more than eight minutes” and added that “the Corsican people do not understand how such an act of savagery could have taken place and we wonder about the path that could have led the aggressor to target him. »
Does he find the attack suspicious? Could it have been commissioned? “Very clearly, this is part of the investigations that must be undertaken, including by the anti-terrorism prosecution. The Corsicans want, in addition to an administrative inquiry – and I say this, we do not have complete confidence – an independent and impartial look. This is why we are asking for a parliamentary commission of inquiry with a spectrum of intervention broad enough to understand. »
Gilles Simeoni returned to Jean Castex’s response to questions from the Corsicans: “The Prime Minister validated this request and it is now up to the National Assembly and the Senate to implement this measure. “If the words of the Prime Minister reassured him for a time, he then questioned the potential role of the French State in this assassination attempt: “Why was the aggressor an auxiliary? Why was he able to stay in touch alone? Who, possibly, slipped into his ear to attack Yvan Colonna? »
Is there, according to these insinuations, a responsibility of the State? “One can wonder, perhaps parallel pharmacies could have had a role, clearly […] It is a state affair. I strongly remind you that if the right to rapprochement had been applied to Yvan Colonna, these facts would never have happened. »
The lawyer also castigated the fact that Corsica had asked for a “right to reconciliation”, that is to say an incarceration of Yvan Colonna in Corsica rather than in France; request never granted: “This request has been made for several months. It is supported by deputies and senators from several political groups. We must bring this right closer to Pierre Alessandri and Alain Ferrandi. The Prime Minister told me that he would rule within hours or days. This was announced this Friday by Jean Castex.
What about the clashes in Corsica? Of the state of health of Yvan Colonna? “He is between life and death. The news is extremely pessimistic. This anger that has exploded feeds on a total lack of dialogue. Beyond what we have just discussed, the State must agree to dialogue with Corsica. »
