Gironde: a radar on the Bordeaux ring road on the podium of the radars that flash the most

The National Interministerial Road Safety Observatory has taken stock of the equipment reporting the most violations in 2020

At the beginning of this month of January 2022, the National Interministerial Observatory for Road Safety (ONISR) drew up its report on traffic violations for the year 2020.

Among the data recorded, the radars that flashed the most in 2020. With a newcomer that makes its direct debut on the podium: a turret radar of the Bordeaux inner ring road (RN 230) located in Floirac, not far from exit 24 , on a lane where the speed is limited to 90 km/h. In service since August 7, 2019, this turret radar is the source of 126,255 infringement messages (MIF) over the twelve months of 2020.

This makes it the third most prolix radar of the year, behind a radar located on the A8 in the Alpes-Maritimes (169,748 MIF) and a radar placed on the A1 in Seine-Saint-Denis (130 698 MiFID). “The sudden increase in violations noted” by the Floirac radar “can be explained by its commissioning in August 2019”, explains ONISR. Clearly, drivers have not yet gotten used to the presence of the machine.

No other speed camera in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region is in the Top 10 of the most flashy speed cameras of 2020.
