Three people died this Friday morning in the crash of their small passenger plane in Martillac (Gironde), 15 km south of Bordeaux, we learned from the firefighters and the gendarmerie.
Shortly after 9:30 a.m., the plane took off from the nearby Saucats airfield before crashing into a wooded area next to the Technopole de Martillac, 2 km away. The occupants of the aircraft, two women and a man, were killed in the accident, “without any other victim to deplore at this time”, according to the firefighters contacted around 1 p.m.
The accident caused a fire which burned 2,000 m2 of pine trees and was brought under control at the start of the afternoon. Forty firefighters were mobilized. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Gironde gendarmerie group and the research section of the air transport gendarmerie.
