Global Bioenergies: letters of intent for the factory project

(Boursier.com) — Global Bioenergies has received letters of intent representing more than 2,500 tonnes of Isonaturane per year, from renowned players in the cosmetics field based in several regions of the world.

These purchasing intentions represent an annual turnover of more than 70 million euros.

A factory mainly dedicated to cosmetics will start up in 2027. It will market Isonaturane 12 and 16, the first natural equivalents to isododecane and isohexadecane of petroleum origin. This new industrial tool has been resized to 2,500 tonnes of isobutene derivatives per year in order to focus on the most profitable markets: makeup and prestige skincare products.

A factory at 80 ME

In parallel with commercial development and under the supervision of Roland Desvignes, Industrial Director of Global Bioenergies, engineering finalized the first plans for the factory. The plant will be divided into five zones: production of isobutene by fermentation, purification of isobutene, conversion to isododecane and isohexadecane, effluent and energy management.
Based on these plans, the total construction cost of the factory (including contingencies) was estimated at almost 80 million euros. As a reminder, the French State has already announced its support for the project at the end of 2023 with the allocation of public aid of 16.4 ME via the First Factory call for projects supported by Bpifrance as part of the France 2030 plan.

The schedule for the design and construction of the plant is also specified. The so-called summary pre-project phase will end at the end of May 2024, and will be followed in the 2nd half of 2024 by a detailed pre-project phase, which allows all the installations to be integrated into the selected site to be frozen. A phase of detailed studies and examination of permit applications will begin at the beginning of 2025. It will be continued by the construction phase of the plant itself which will result in the main CAPEX disbursements and which will end in 2027.
