GM: chosen for a program of the US Department of Defense

(CercleFinance.com) – GM announces that its subsidiary GM Defense has been selected by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) of the Department of Defense (DoD) to prototype an energy storage unit as part of the DIU’s Stable Tactical Expeditionary Electric Power (STEEP) program.

STEEP aims to support tactical microgrids and energy management capabilities in austere locations, reducing logistics requirements and reliance on fossil fuels as the primary energy source throughout the DoD.

GM Defense will leverage GM’s advanced electric vehicle propulsion architecture, the Ultium Platform, to provide a scalable and adaptable energy storage unit that supports the warfighter’s tactical energy needs.
