Gmail: AI lands on Android and iPhone to write your emails, this is how it works

A first limited wave was launched for Gmail a few weeks later, after the Google I/O conference, and we have moved to a new stage of the calendar since yesterday.

In beta on the Gmail app for Android and iOS

As spotted by the publication 9To5Googlemembers of the Workspace Labs beta program can now test the “Help me write” feature on Gmail, whether on Android or iOS.

The operation of this option is similar to that already embedded on the desktop version of Gmail for some time. The tool offers you to write a prompt on which the AI ​​will rely in order to write a draft e-mail for you. Action buttons then allow you to make the text more formal, longer or shorter, as needed.

Of course, it is recommended to reread the e-mail in question, and to personalize or correct it if necessary.

How to write an email with AI on Gmail?

If you’re signed up for Workspace Labs, you can use Gmail’s Help Me Write feature on your smartphone right now. To do this, go to the app and press the “New message” button at the bottom right of your screen.

Once you are in the interface for composing an email, you can press the “Help me write” button, which also appears in the lower right corner of the display. The menu then opens, and you can give your instructions to the tool. Be as precise as possible to obtain a result that meets your expectations.

The feature hasn’t rolled out to mobile versions of Google Docs yet, but it should be soon.
