The arrival of generative AI in work tools continues at Google. The firm especially favors its email service which has benefited from easier generation of drafts for several months. With the “Help Me Write” function, Google has gone further by offering professionals the ability to generate the complete draft of an email in a few seconds. The firm is today announcing a new improvement, it will no longer even be necessary to write a request.

Generate emails by voice

The “Help Me Write” function will now be able to recognize your voice. In other words, it will be possible to simply say out loud the idea of a letter and Gmail will take care of writing it. Obviously, you keep control over the proofreading and adjustments to be made before sending.

However, this should represent a significant time saving for many people, in particular, we imagine, business executives. Furthermore, AI email generation can help you get started when you are faced with a blank page.

Improve your drafts with one click

Google is also launching a “polish” function for emails that you have started to write. It allows you to give control to generative AI to format your mail and add the usual polite expressions in professional mail. The function will also check spelling, grammar and complete if words are missing from a sentence.

For the moment, Google only offers these two new features for smartphone users, subscribers to Google Workspace and in English in the United States. We imagine that the firm should push the deployment for other regions in the coming months, in particular during the major Google I/O conference.
