Email translation will finally be available on iOS and Android apps from Gmailhas just announced the Mountain View firm in a blog post.

The functionality will be accessible for users with a free personal account as well as for paying subscribers to Google Workspace. Now, you no longer need to go to your computer or take a screenshot when you receive an email in a foreign language on mobile. When the system detects content written in a language that is not in the user’s language settings, a translation banner will automatically appear.
For example, if French is the default operating system language, a “Translate to French” banner will appear when viewing emails written in another language. If it does not appear, then it will be possible to click on the three-point menu at the bottom of the message to activate the feature.

The company also offers the possibility of configuring the application to automatically translate all messages received into a specific language. Google specifies that additional options will be available from the app settings. They will enable permanent translation or completely disable translation depending on the user’s preferences.
Translations in Gmail for Android have been rolling out since Tuesday, August 8, while they’ll be coming to iOS in the coming weeks. Google assures that this feature was one of the most requested by its users. As a reminder, another AI email writing feature was also recently deployed on Gmail.
