Golden Globes 2023: House of the Dragon crowned Best series, Dahmer also on the list

The series “House of the Dragon” won for its first season the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series, an award that its parent series “Game of Thrones” had never won before it.

For its first season, House of the Dragon won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series last night. A prize that Game of Thrones had never won before, despite its countless awards received during its eight seasons. The curse of the Iron Throne at the Golden Globes is finally broken!

The big winner of the evening is undoubtedly Abbott Elementary, available in France on Disney+. This comedy taking place in the school environment triumphs in the Best comedy series category, but also for the Golden Globe for Best comic actress (awarded to its main interpreter, Quinta Brunson).

As for the mini-series, the two must-haves of the past year shared the main prizes: Best Mini-Series and Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Coolidge) for The White Lotus, and Best Mini-Series Actor for Evan Peters, the interpreter of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the Netflix production.

Finally, it’s hard not to mention the Best Dramatic Actor award given last night to Kevin Costner, for his performance in the Yellowstone series. A prize accepted remotely from his residence in Santa Barbara, floods having blocked access to the highways, preventing his coming to the ceremony.

The American actor/director is a regular at the Golden Globes, he who had already been awarded Best Actor in a Mini-Series in 2013 for Hatfields & McCoys, but also appeared in the cinema awards (Best Direction and Best Dramatic Film in 1991 for Dances with Wolves).
