In January, the Golden Globes will again take place as part of a TV gala. Now the host has been found: US comedian Jerrod Carmichael.

In 2023, the Golden Globes will again be presented live on television. Now the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced the host: US comedian Jerrod Carmichael (35) will host next year’s awards ceremony, which will take place on January 10, 2023 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills and will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock.

Carmichael is an Emmy Award winner and is best known for the sitcom The Carmichael Show and the stand-up special Rothaniel. The comedian also made several appearances on “Saturday Night Live”. In films like “Bad Neighbors” (2014), “Bad Neighbors 2” (2016) or “Transformers: The Last Knight” (2017) he was also seen in smaller roles.

“Jerrod is the special kind of talent this show is calling for to open awards season,” the HFPA President is quoted as saying in the press release.

A lot of hype about the Golden Globes

The HFPA has recently come under repeated criticism and has had to deal with massive allegations of corruption and racism. In 2022, the Golden Globes were not broadcast on television for the first time. Most recently, it was said that the association would like to be much more diverse in the future.

December 12, 2022 will show whether the nomination list is different or whether it will once again cause criticism. Then the contenders for the Globes will be announced.
