The 81st Golden Globes ceremony, held on January 7, 2024, delivered its verdict. Which films succeeded The Fabelmans and The Banshees of Inisherin, crowned last year? Discover the complete prize list on the cinema side.
It’s done ! The 81st Golden Globe Awards, held on January 7, revealed all of the 2024 winners.
The awards season has therefore entered its home stretch, the one that will take us until the Oscars on March 10. But before that, the Golden Globes were presented by the Hollywood-based Foreign Press Association.
This year marks the triumph of Oppenheimer, crowned Best Drama Film, succeeding Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans. After its immense critical and commercial success, Christopher Nolan’s film continues its rise. The British director also won the statuette for Best Director.
And it’s not over for the 3-hour feature film released this summer! For his performance in the role of the father of the atomic bomb, Cillian Murphy is inducted as Best Actor in a Drama. In all, the work won 5 major awards with Robert Downey Jr. Best Supporting Role and Best Music for Ludwig Göransson.
Unsurprisingly, Lily Gladstone, incredible in Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, is crowned Best Actress in a Drama. On the other hand, it was a disappointment for Barbie, beaten by Poor Creatures in the Best Comedy category. Yorgos Lanthimos’ feature film won a total of 2 statuettes with the coronation of Emma Stone (Best Actress in a Comedy).
As for Greta Gerwig’s film, it will console itself with the awards for Best Song and Best Performance at the box office. On the French side, Anatomy of a Fall wins 2 prestigious statuettes: Best Foreign Film and Best Screenplay.
After the Palme d’Or and success in theaters, the work directed by Justine Triet obtained new international recognition.
