Bernhard Langer wins the US Masters twice – and thereby secures a lifelong right to compete. Even in the decades since his victories, he continues to impress on the legendary Augusta circuit. This year, eyes will be on him one last time.
Bernhard Langer has announced his departure from the legendary US Masters. This means that an era will come to an end on the course in Augusta this year. The German golf icon won the tournament twice. In 1985 and 1993 he received the coveted Green Jacket. “It will be my last Masters this year. I’ve already decided that,” he said in a short video broadcast by the PGA Tour and the PGA Tour Champions (for professionals aged 50 and over). on Instagram posted.
In 2020, Langer made the cut as the oldest player in US Masters tournament history.

As a Masters winner, Langer had secured a lifelong right to compete. The 66-year-old Anhausen native explained that it would probably be his last US Open this year: “If a few more miracles don’t happen in the future.” Last December, Langer had already announced that he would play in Munich for the last time this year and thus also in a tournament on the DP World Tour, the top European golf league. The BMW International Open will take place from July 3rd to 7th.
Earlier comes the farewell to the Masters, which is scheduled for April 11th to 14th. The US Open also takes place before Langer’s home tournament from June 13th to 16th.
Langer has been playing golf professionally since 1976. In addition to his two Masters victories, the German golf icon celebrated countless successes. Langer achieved 42 victories on the former European Tour alone. He celebrated winning the Ryder Cup six times, he led the world rankings when they were introduced in 1986 and has also collected 46 successes on the PGA Tour Champions since 2007. Langer recently won the family tournament PNC Championship with his son Jason and also beat Tiger Woods and his family team.
