Golf safari in South Tyrol: These courses make the golfer's heart beat faster

Golf fans are spoiled for choice in South Tyrol. Diverse places in lush vegetation and with fantastic views beckon.

Not only hiking fans get their money's worth in South Tyrol, the northern Italian region is no longer an insider tip for golfers either. Diverse courses in lush vegetation and with fantastic views with five 9-hole and four 18-hole courses offer perfect play from spring to late autumn. All places can be easily reached from Bolzano within about an hour.

Here the game is almost a minor matter

In summer, the 9-hole course in Alta Badia, which is 1,700 meters above sea level, and the short course in the Pustertal near Bruneck with lush green lanes, pleasantly cool temperatures and biotopes are particularly worthwhile. One of the most beautiful golf courses in the entire Alpine region is the Dolomiti golf course in Trentino. It is located on a plateau surrounded by coniferous forests and mountain ranges. The 18-hole course is not only demanding, it also requires precise play.

The tees on Carezza "The Mountain Beast" are also an experience. Distracted by the rose garden and the Latemar in the middle of the Dolomites as well as lush coniferous forests and green meadows, the game is almost a minor matter here. The club of the same name is located in the Passeier Valley, inserted as an 18-hole course, which is open from March to November. The facility is surrounded by beautiful nature and there are no major differences in altitude, but the narrow lanes, seven ponds and various bunkers make a good result difficult.

A golf destination with many facets

The mild climate, the uncomplicated arrival as well as the excellent hotels around the space offer make South Tyrol a perfect golf region. Many partner hotels of the facilities offer special green fee reductions, including the golf card with over 70 hotels to choose from.

The 4-star superior Naturhotel Pfösl in Nova Ponente (Belvita Leading Wellnesshotels Südtirol) is one of the partner companies. It is located on a sunny high plateau in Eggental and offers golf vacationers not only special packages, but also natural mountain wellness on over 2,000 square meters with a panoramic infinity brine pool.

If you check in after 18 lanes on the Lärchenwald-Course GC Petersburg, which is only 6 kilometers away, and need 360-degree regeneration, you can be mentally and physically balanced in the "primeval oasis". The panoramic location, the local specialties, as well as other activity options make a round of golf quickly forgotten. Those looking for peace and quiet can stay in the puristic, elegant forest chalets. Yoga retreats, bike excursions, hiking tours or classic wellness treatments are suitable for non-golfers.

Tee with a special height difference

The 18-hole course St. Vigil Seis with topographical challenges stretches below the Schlern massif, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, past gorges and waterfalls. In addition to a grandiose backdrop, the Signature Hole is located here, the par 3 hole number 15, around 180 meters long, with the greatest height difference in Europe of 52 meters. Placing the balls here on the green is not easy and experienced players are better off using a few club lengths less. The view from the tee over the green goes far into the valley and is unparalleled. Golfers live in the stylish Paula Wiesinger Apartments & Suites not far from the Alpe di Siusi, only three kilometers from the course. The partner hotel of St. Vigil Seis relies on spacious rooms and offers a wellness lounge as well as a fitness room and charging stations for electric cars. On request, taster courses with rental equipment can be booked for golf beginners.

In the middle of the apple and vineyards of the Etsch Valley lies the 9-hole course of the Lana Gutshof Brandis golf club, which is characterized by varied lanes and little difference in altitude. Also ideal for golfers is the nearby Alpiana Resort (Dolce Vita Hotels) in Völlan near Merano, which, in addition to a rich pool and spa offer, also has a tennis court and a Mediterranean garden with palm trees, lounge areas and hanging loungers. In addition, the golf club Dolomiti near Sarnonico, the golf club Passeier, St. Vigil Seis, the golf club Petersberg as well as the 9-hole course GC Eppan "The Blue Monster" with its many water hazards are within reach.
