Julian Sands, star of the classic Room with a View, is missing after hiking in the mountains.
Julian Sands, 65-year-old British comedian, has been missing for a week. Having gone hiking in a snowy mountain range in California, the actor has not given any sign of life since January 13. Julian Sands is best known for his performances in Room with a View or The Tear.
On January 19, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez broke the bad news to the media. “Julian Sands was reported missing on Mount Baldy on Friday January 13th”she told Agence France-Presse.
Note that this mountain, also called Mount San Antonio, culminates at 3,068 meters above sea level. It is the highest peak in the San Gabriel Range, not far from Los Angeles. The storms that hit California, generating lots of snow, made this place particularly dangerous.

“We continue to conduct searches by helicopter and using drones when weather conditions permit. We will launch new ground searches when the weather improves and when the safety of our ground teams is ensured,” said the spokeswoman for the rescue team.
Julian Sands, who is a mountain enthusiast, notably climbed the Andes in the early 1990s. “I find bliss near a mountain peak on a beautiful cold morning”he revealed to the British daily The Guardian in 2020.
In a statement, San Bernardino County officials said hiking on Mount San Antonio was “extremely dangerous, even for a seasoned hiker.”
“In these weather conditions, it was very difficult to deploy resources in this area when a hiker is missing”added the local sheriff’s office.
