Good deal – The “5 star” Microsoft Xbox Elite Series 2 gamepad for € 149.99 (-13%)

The Microsoft Xbox Elite Series 2 gamepad goes under 150 € at Fnac.com, a drop of around 13% on the price usually observed. It is currently one of our best value for money.

Released at the end of 2015, the first Xbox Elite controller convinced us despite its very high price of 150 €. Almost 4 years later, here comes the Elite Series 2, its successor. Even more expensive (180 €), it is also even better.

Sub Notes

  • Precision and responsiveness

  • Personalization and configuration

  • Construction and ergonomics

Even more successful than the first Elite controller, this Xbox Elite Series 2 has almost everything of the ultimate controller. We could have wished for even more responsive main buttons, but when it comes to comfort, precision and customization, we just can’t find better. Unfortunately, it costs a lot of money for its services, but it is without a doubt the best gamepad around.

Strong points

  • Excellent build quality and comfortable handling.
  • Wireless operation with low latency.
  • Integrated battery and magnetic charging stand supplied.
  • Pallets accessible without being in the way.
  • Precision of analog sticks.
  • Interchangeable stick caps.
  • Trigger stroke adjustable on 3 levels.
  • Well-designed directional cross and disc.
  • Complete configuration software on Windows 10 and Xbox One.

Weak points

  • The A, B, X, and Y buttons could have been even more responsive.
  • Software stroke of the sticks which does not automatically adapt to the mechanical setting chosen at the back of the controller.
  • Non-removable battery.

In the absence of a very marked technological evolution on the occasion of the transition to the Xbox Series generation, the Xbox controller remains the excellent game controller that we have enjoyed for years on Xbox One and PC. Certainly rather timid, the developments brought by Microsoft further improve comfort and precision, sufficient to make this new Xbox Series controller a benchmark in the field. We nevertheless remain on our hunger vis-à-vis on-board vibration technologies, which would have gained by catching up with those used by Nintendo and Sony on their respective official controllers.
