The Dyson Gen5 Detect stick vacuum cleaner is the first British model equipped with the new Hyperdimium motor. It also retains what has made the brand successful over time: multicyclonic filtration and numerous tips.
Is it reasonable to spend so much on a product as unfun as a stick vacuum cleaner? Everyone will answer this question according to their experience, their expectations, their desires and, of course, their bank account. It is also a safe bet that the debates on this subject will go well. But one thing is certain: if we only judge efficiency, performance and ease of maintenance, the Dyson Gen5 Detect has no competitor. It doesn’t let anything pass through and locks dust and the smallest particles in its collector, which is also easier to empty. Which doesn’t spoil anything, little tips like the precise indication of autonomy or the new integrated nozzle really make life easier, while maintaining the device requires almost no effort. So yes, the Dyson Gen5 Detect approaches the fateful €1000 mark by a hair, but it is more than worth it.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude the prices of stores whose the VAT policy is not clear (so-called “gray” stores, typically in the case of imports from China).
Alternatively
With its V15 Detect Absolute, Dyson does not create any unpleasant surprises. We can’t fault it for suction, filtration or maintenance; the holy trinity of the stick vacuum cleaner. However, there is a little taste of “could do better”. Of course, it is not always easy to innovate effectively, but the laser is akin to a gadget function and the old “High Torque” intelligent brush ultimately had more or less the same mission as the particle counter, namely adapt the suction power automatically. We would have preferred that Dyson tackle the weight of the device, or its somewhat limited autonomy in Boost mode for our taste.
