Huawei is taking over the MagicBook Pro from its subsidiary Honor on its own to offer it under the name MateBook D16, and completes the entry-level, with an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor accompanied by 16 GB of RAM and a SSD of 512 GB.

By taking over the MagicBook Pro on its own, Huawei has corrected its main defect (the keyboard) and retained its main strong point (its screen). We would have liked a slightly newer processor, however, like an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H with Zen 3 architecture. To make a perfect copy, Huawei would have been well advised to offer better speakers and a larger capacity battery — Autonomy is on the other hand correct. We will finally settle for a free M.2 slot instead.

The Honor MagicBook Pro has serious advantages. Its screen is undoubtedly its greatest quality. Combined with a powerful Ryzen processor, it could have become a must-have for graphic designers and photographers. But between the absence of an SD reader, the lack of expandability of the memory and the rather disappointing finishes, it is far from perfect. An interesting novelty that does not tick all the boxes.
