Good deal – The Philips L’OR Barista “5 stars” coffee maker at €46.98 (-25%)

The coffee specialist L’OR has just recently launched its very first capsule coffee maker. Manufactured by Philips, the Barista looks like Nespresso machines.

With the Barista, L’OR and Philips transform the trial and come to heckle Nespresso on its land. Simple, fast and efficient, the Barista offers several coffee sizes and can dispense two preparations simultaneously. In addition, its catalog of capsules, less expensive than that of its competitor, and its availability in supermarkets could convince many users. Too bad the capsules are made of aluminum, which in fact represents a real ecological abyss.

Strong points

  • Simple to use and easy to maintain.
  • Multiple coffee sizes available.
  • Rapid preheating and extraction.
  • Quiet machine.

Weak points

  • Dispensing nozzles not at all precise.
  • Flashes in case of insufficient water reserve but does not block the preparations.
  • Aluminum caps.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

Alternatively

With the Barista Sublime, Philips brings its capsule coffee maker up to date. Always as simple, fast and efficient, this new generation gains in compactness and manufacturing quality. Compatible with L’OR capsules, whatever the format, and those of Nespresso, this versatile machine also has the merit of dispensing two preparations simultaneously. Too bad the capsules are made of aluminum, which in fact represents a real ecological abyss.
