Good deal – The Philips L’OR Barista Sublime “5 stars” coffee maker at €49.99 (-29%)

Two years after launching its excellent L’OR Barista, Philips is renewing its coffee maker compatible with L’OR and Nespresso capsules. The Barista Sublime therefore takes up the lineage of a very successful first series.

With the Barista Sublime, Philips brings its capsule coffee maker up to date. Always as simple, fast and efficient, this new generation gains in compactness and manufacturing quality. Compatible with L’OR capsules, whatever the format, and those of Nespresso, this versatile machine also has the merit of dispensing two preparations simultaneously. Too bad that the capsules are made of aluminum, which in fact represents a real ecological abyss.

Strong points

  • Compactness and finishes.
  • Simple to use and easy to maintain.
  • Multiple coffee sizes available.
  • Rapid preheating and extraction.
  • Quiet machine.

Weak points

  • Flashes in case of insufficient water reserve, but does not block the preparations.
  • Nozzle dripping phenomenon after extraction.
  • Aluminum caps.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

Alternatively

Not content with being the most colorful coffee maker in the range, the Nespresso Vertuo Pop is also the most compact. However, it provides high-end performance by preparing coffee up to 230 ml. Dedicated to lovers of XL coffees, the Vertuo Pop wins the bet to preserve the aromas and the coffee foam as well on a small black as on a very diluted coffee. Its biggest weakness lies in the capsules it uses: they are the most expensive on the market and they are only available in stores or on the Nespresso website.
