Good deal – The Sony DualShock 4 “4 stars” gamepad at 43.00 € (-28%) (finished)

Each generation of PlayStation has its own DualShock controller. Supplied with the PS4, the DualShock 4 must now face many competitors. However, these rarely target the same tariff band, and that is no coincidence.

Unbeatable in terms of value for money, the DualShock 4 has virtually no competition in its price range of around €50 to €60. Well finished, pleasant to use, precise and enjoying a high-performance wireless link, it is ultimately only surpassed by high-end controllers sold 2 to 3 times more expensive. A safe bet, which is also available in many colors to vary the pleasures.

Strong points

  • Good manufacturing quality (since V2).
  • Comfortable for both small and large hands.
  • Lightweight for a wireless controller.
  • Powerful wireless link.
  • Also works on PC and mobile (Bluetooth).

Weak points

  • Non-deactivatable luminous zone which can disturb in the dark.
  • Useless touchpad.
  • Autonomy a little light.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

Alternatively

Nintendo’s Switch Pro controller remains a reference on Switch. It brings the comfort that Joy-Con lacks without sacrificing their specific functions and offers good precision. Nintendo unfortunately charges these qualities quite expensive and we will therefore tend to look for alternatives in the event that we only want a secondary controller to play with others, for example. Excluding the price, however, this Switch Pro gamepad seems to us to be the best choice for playing on Switch.
