Good deal – The Urbanears Plattan 2 Bluetooth Red mobile headphones at €43.50 (-22%)

The Urbanears Plattan 2 Bluetooth Red on-the-go headset goes under €50 at Amazon, a drop of around 22% on the usual price.

Going from the best-seller that was the first Plattan, which had received the rare and very poor rating of one star, to the Plattan 2, hailed with a respectable three stars, Urbanears had been able to question itself and learn from it. — in terms of audio in particular. Departed from its wire, the Plattan 2 Bluetooth of course promises wireless freedom, but also improved sound reproduction.

    Editor's Rating: 3 out of 5

Externally identical to its wired version, the Plattan 2 Bluetooth royally ignores the criticisms we made of the Plattan 2. However, the switch to wireless is quite convincing thanks to complete controls, excellent battery life and the possibility of sharing its music with a second headset. The audio rendering, despite particularly soft bass and a slightly tight stereophonic field, remains intelligible, powerful and devoid of distortion.

Strong points

  • Music sharing via mini-jack output.
  • Complete orders.
  • Foldable, flexible, removable ear cups.
  • Good maintenance.
  • Powerful, low distortion.
  • Intelligible voices.
  • Good autonomy.
  • Comfortable for small heads.

Weak points

  • Deployment of the arch too tight for large skulls.
  • Bloated bass.
  • Treble set back.
  • Tight stereophonic field.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

How the pricing table works

The WH-CH510 is a simple, unassuming Bluetooth headset that provides ergonomically acceptable delivery and sonic performance. Despite its very inexpensive placement, it manages to surprise, in particular with its incredible 42-hour battery life, but also with an absolutely correct sound reproduction that sets it apart from its direct competitors, the JBL Tune 500BT and Skullcandy Riff.
