While questions about the French’s enthusiasm for TF1’s morning news arise, revelations from a member of the team have been made about the atmosphere that reigns behind the scenes.
It’s been a month since Hello!, the TF1 morning show, has been launched. Despite the hopes of the first French channel, there are not very many viewers there. Indeed, Bruno Toussaint’s morning show is, in terms of audiences, in third position. Behind that of France 2 and that of BFMTV. That said, it is still early to flog the TF1 team, knowing that it has only just launched.
What I wanted to remember Bruce Toussaint, the conductor of the morningwhile he was a guest on Sud Radio, which highlighted their weak start: “They are 40 years ahead. We did 13 shows. They must have done 40,000. I don’t mind being compared, it’s completely normal and it’s the game, but you have to be a little serious! I don’t know who could have imagined for a moment that we would beat Télématin after three days. Sorry, but it’s grotesque”he defended himself.
Changes too frequent for the Bonjour team!
Weeks after Bruce Toussaint’s comments, the results are still not there. Which led to several changes within the team, and the progress of the morning. A member of the team spoke on this subject in the columns of Le Parisien, dated February 10: “Every day it felt like we were starting from scratch.”he said, visibly tired of this situation.
Subsequently, this member of the Bonjour! looked into these imposed changes : “We stopped reacting to each other’s columns, had to prepare much more rhythmic interventions over a very precise time. And between the audiences and the media pressure, it was sometimes loud”, he explained. In short, less spontaneity and camaraderie, more rigor and seriousness. Changes which thus affected the atmosphere behind the scenes, and on the set. In April, Bruce Toussaint plans to take some time off and should be replaced by a member of the team. Perhaps the opportunity for him to take stock? Nothing is lost yet!
