The One Piece series gives news of its upcoming season 2 on Netflix. A major change is coming to shake up production, but everything should be fine.

A frankly successful adaptation of the famous manga, not to say legendary, created by the no less legendary Eiichiro Oda. But the Straw Hat crew will have to face some waves since a major change has just been announced and production should soon move up a gear. We have just learned that Steven Maeda, main showrunner and original creator of the Netflix series, is leaving the ship to hand over the helm to Joe Tracz. The latter will not take the place of captain, but that of co-showrunner alongside Matt Owens, already present in the first season. Maeda will not move away that much since he will have an executive producer seat for this season 2. “Joe brings a depth, enthusiasm and experience to our second season that will help propel One Piece to new heights.”declared the man as he passed the torch.
A major change that could have an impact on season 2, hoping that it will be more positive. In any case, with Oda lurking nearby, One Piece season 2 should stay on track with the first. We can also be reassured since Joe Tracz is not a beginner. The man notably worked on the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians or Dash & Lily for Netflix of which he is showrunner and creator. This is therefore not his first trial run.
When is One Piece season 2 released on Netflix?
A question then arises, when will One Piece season 2 land on Netflix? A good question which does not yet really have an answer even if new rumors in the corridors give us some clues. A rather reliable source when it comes to One Piece and to whom we owe several information on the series which turned out to be true, affirms that season 2 of One Piece could well be delayed.
On X, the informant states that the Netflix series should return by the end of 2025 if all goes well, without giving a specific date. However, he specifies that there would be a strong probability that it would be postponed to 2026 in order to have a little more time in post-production. Period during which the final touches are given, in particular the fine-tuning of special effects. If we can avoid another twisted sword for Zoro, we won’t say no.
