The Swiss Football Association SFV is following the international trend: there will no longer be any gender-specific differences in the distribution of bonuses.
Good news in terms of “equal pay” and an additional motivational boost for the 23 players who will represent the Swiss colors in England from July 6: the players of the Swiss national team will receive the same bonuses as their male colleagues in future. By 2024, all partner-related success bonuses in the association are to be adjusted to 100 percent.
This applies, for example, to bonus payments for successful qualification or successes in final tournaments. With the women’s EURO, such a major event is just around the corner. Compensation for commercial rights, which include commitments by players to commercials and image rights, will also be treated equally with immediate effect.
Big bank is behind the EM candidacy 2025
Credit Suisse, as the main sponsor of the Swiss Football Association (SFV), makes it possible to align these bonuses. The big bank will also be the main partner of Switzerland’s candidacy to host the 2025 Women’s European Championship.
SFV President Dominique Blanc sees the news as a “strong sign for women’s football, which we support and continue to promote with our own measures.” The interest in the upcoming women’s EURO 2022 is impressive and “encourages us to believe that we can also imagine such a boost for women’s football in this country.” With the European Championship finals in 2025 in their own country, Swiss women’s football could even enter new dimensions, Bland predicts.
