good news, the discount of 50 cents per liter extends for a few days

The exceptional aid of 30 centimes per liter from the State to reduce motorists’ bills at the pump has been extended until mid-November. Ditto for the discount of 20 cents per liter from TotalEnergies. A maximum discount of 50 cents therefore for another two weeks. After this time, the discount will be much less advantageous.

This is very good news for motorists’ wallets. The state rebate on the price of fuel does not end this Monday evening. Implemented in the spring, it helps to contain the soaring prices at the pump following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine which had pushed SP95 and diesel above the 2 euro per liter mark. This aid, initially 18 cents, has changed over the past few months, to 30 cents on September 1.

While it was due to end on November 1, the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, gave it an additional reprieve by announcing in mid-October that it would end in mid-November. A decision taken in the crowd of supply difficulties linked to the strikes in the refineries.

Degressive help

But the state is not the only one to grant a gesture. TotalEnergies has let it be known that it is also extending its rebate of 20 cents per liter until mid-November. Motorists can therefore benefit for another 15 days from a discount of at least 30 centimes per liter at all service stations. She can even reach 50 cents in those of the TotalEnergies network, moreover often victims of their own success, with long queues or even empty tanks.

From November 15on the other hand, the discount at TotalEnergies will pass 10 cents per liter until the end of the year. Ditto on the side of the state. The rebate of 30 cents will only be 10 cents until December 31. Motorists will therefore be able to best benefit from 20 cents discount per liter at TotalEnergies stations and 10 cents at others. And from January 1, 2023, no further assistance is provided for the moment. Motorists will then have to pay for their fuel at full price!
