This premium will only be directed towards daily journeys, those of less than 80 km. This year, the system was completed by a second bonus of 100 euros, which can be combined with the previous one and intended for carpooling travelers, those who agree to share their car for at least 3 long-distance journeys per year. It will disappear next year. In 2023, it represented half of the bonuses paid.

The long-distance habit is there, the plan has achieved its objective, estimated the office of the Minister of Transport, Clment Beaune. Over these long distances, carpooling already represents up to 3% of journeys, compared to 0.01% of daily journeys, according to the Blablacar platform.

The objective of the carpooling plan is to reach three million daily journeys by 2027, compared to 900,000 currently. This collective leap would allow France to avoid 1% of its greenhouse gas emissions, according to government calculations.
