Good range – ID.Aero comes as VW ID.6: Stromer in Passat size

Next year, VW will launch an electrically powered Passat counterpart. Thanks to the streamlined outer skin, that even goes quite far.

In addition to vans, compacts and SUVs, there will also be a sedan in Passat format based on VW’s MEB electrical kit. The VW ID.Aero study that has now been unveiled largely reveals what this will look like. The four-door car, which is almost five meters long and has an emphatically aerodynamic design, gives a very specific preview of a mid-range electric car that will be available from the second half of 2023, first in China and then later in the year in Europe. Similar to Mercedes with EQE and EQS, VW is also involved of his electric limousine on a roof line that runs in a wide arc, which ends in a stub tail. Thanks to the long wheelbase and short overhangs, the Aero should be spacious inside. In addition, there is an aerodynamic outer skin (cW value 0.23) with touch surfaces that are flush with the door panel and replace door handles. Thanks to these measures, the Aero can travel over 600 kilometers with a 77 kWh battery. The details also include large 22-inch wheels and striking LED lights all around with continuous light strips at the front and rear. (SPX)
