Good results and bright prospects for Koei Tecmo

It is a solid publisher which presents its results with a turnover down slightly by 6% but an operating profit up by 12%. The semester was marked by the releases of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, a new collaboration with Nintendo which quickly sold one million copies worldwide. Between strategy and horse racing simulation, the other home releases were mainly intended for the Asian market with Nobunaga’s Ambition Rebirth (200,000 copies distributed), Taiko Risshiden V DX (180,000 copies distributed) and Winning Post 9 2022 (100,000 copies distributed). Enough to sell 4.68 million games in 6 months, 65% of which are downloads. And this does not take into account mobile, a platform on which Koei Tecmo is having some success in Asia.

With 2,408 employees (15% more than last year), Koei Tecmo is giving itself the means to broaden its horizons. If we don’t find him at the controls of the next Fire Emblem Engage, Koei Tecmo has probably taken a step by catching the eye of Electronic Arts for the creation of Wild Hearts, a monster hunting game signed Omega Force expected on the 17th February 2023 which will be sold at full price under the EA Originals label. Team Ninja will take over on March 3, 2023 with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, successor to Nioh already highlighted in red on the list of action game fans masocore.

And if Sony Interactive Entertainment has not placed any marbles in this Xbox Game Pass partner title, PlayStation will find Team Ninja on the other hand on a new PS5 license called Rise of the Ronin, an open-world action-adventure game that seems particularly ambitious for Koei Tecmo. See you in 2024 to live the Bakumatsu seen by Ninja Gaiden’s studio. Decidedly busy at the start of next year, Koei Tecmo will also be able to count on Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key (February 22, 2023) and Project Zero: The Lunar Eclipse Mask (March 9).
