Google: 3D renderings of the Pixel 8 Pro, and news of the Pixel Fold and 7a

The Google Pixel 8 should not be released before the fall, but smartphones are already arousing curiosity. The Mountain View firm could also mention them at the next Google I / O, scheduled for May 10, as it had done with the Pixel 7.

However, it did not take long for leakers look into the matter. This is the case of the famous Onleaks, which has published several 3D renderings of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro based on technical CAD files. It is the latter that are usually provided to external service providers, such as hull manufacturers. However, this information should be taken with a grain of salt.

We see that the two devices sport a design very similar to their predecessors. Their appearance is a little less monolithic, since the angles are even more rounded. This gives them a “softer” look, a far cry from the Pixel 6, which marked an important shift in the history of the range. The photo island has not changed in shape compared to last year, but that of the Pro version accommodates the three sensors in the same opening. It therefore remains a calling card of the Pixels, allowing you to recognize at a glance that it is a model of the brand.

According to the CAD files, the Pixel 8 Pro measures 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7mm. The thickness increases to 12 mm at the level of the photo block. The SIM card drawer is located on the left edge, while the right houses the power and volume buttons. The slab would measure 6.52 inches, slightly less than that of the Pixel 7 Pro. This would be due to the more rounded shape of the corners.

Without going too far, we imagine that this model will carry a Tensor G3, the next generation of Google’s in-house SoC. The chipset would benefit from a 3 nm engraving process (against 5 nm for the Tensor G2), which could improve performance and autonomy.

A busy news

The Mountain View firm is not idle, since two other devices are also talking about them. This is the case of the Pixel Fold, the brand’s first folding model. The WinFuture site indeed indicates that it could be released as early as June, alongside the Pixel 7a.

Two colors are already planned: carbon black and porcelain white. The smartphone would ship at least 256 GB of storage and should cost around 1700 €.

The Pixel 7a should for its part be much more affordable, since it is expected for a price of around €500 in Europe in its 128 GB version. Four colors would be available: arctic blue, carbon black, cotton white and (potentially) green of jade.
