Google Chrome 97: Update fixes 37 security holes

After Google only updated its Chrome browser to version 96 in mid-December 2021, a fresh major version is already available again with Chrome 97. The update provides numerous improvements and bug fixes, but also closes a large number of security gaps. Version 97.0.4692.71 should therefore be imported immediately by all users under Windows, macOS and Linux. If you haven’t received the update yet, use the following downloads to update Chrome. All data and settings are retained.

Chrome 97: stability improvements

Since the update is brand new, Google has not yet published any official release notes. However, the manufacturer lists various stability and performance improvements in the Chromium log. The update fixes no less than 37 security vulnerabilities, ten of which are marked with the warning level “High” and one with the highest warning level “Critical”. The description of the fixed vulnerabilities is currently still blocked – Google traditionally only releases the specific information later, so that Chrome users can secure their browser with an update beforehand.
