Google has announced that it will make spare parts available for its Pixel smartphones. The objective is to help customers who would like to carry out repairs in order to extend the life of their device.
Parts such as batteries, screen or cameras will be available this year for the Pixel 2a, as well as for future Pixel models in France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and others. EU countries.
Parts will be offered by iFixit repair specialists. They will also be offered as stand-alone parts and repair kits including both components and tools. Repair kits will come with iFixit’s iOpener, a tool designed to apply heat directly and evenly to case components sealed with adhesive, as well as pre-cut replacement adhesive for securing and resealing the Pixel device.
The question of software also
Google has already made public – free of charge – the software needed to calibrate replacement fingerprint sensors for Pixels, which is a big step forward. It would be good to see companies like Apple make available the software tools used to calibrate the various components present in the iPhone.
