Google will create a brand new artificial intelligence center in France. The Mountain View firm meets in Paris, at 50 rue d’Amsterdam (9th arrondissement), for the inauguration this Thursday, February 15 at the end of the morning of a place which should become the totem of Google’s AI in France.
300 Google engineers and researchers will settle in Paris
It is Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, and the Secretary of State for Digital Affairs, Marina Ferrari, who will inaugurate this hub dedicated to AI. This will be open to the entire French artificial intelligence ecosystem, with the aim of creating synergies.
The laboratory will accommodate around 300 Google engineers and researchers. But it will also house the development teams for the YouTube and Chrome services.
Google wants to accelerate the adoption of AI in France
So why install such a hub in France and Paris? Google sets itself the objective “ to accelerate the development of AI-based products in France ”, but also to bring about research or academic partnerships. And, the icing on the cake, the company plans to train French professionals in AI tools.
The government welcomes this investment by Google in France, and welcomes a “ new demonstration of the attractiveness in France for Tech companies in Europe “. An interview should take place between Bruno Le Maire and the big boss of Google and its parent company, Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, who should travel for the occasion.
