Google Maps is one of the most popular navigation apps around and Google is finally releasing this handy new feature.

Google had already announced at the beginning of 2023 that it would roll out a new function for Google Maps. It was actually only supposed to take a few months, but the new feature will only be released gradually after a year.
It is navigation information “at a glance” (in English: Glanceable Directions). This function allows you to display navigation information on the lock screen while the app is active.
So you don’t have to constantly unlock your smartphone to see updated information such as estimated time of arrival and turn-by-turn information. Understanding navigation becomes easier and therefore less annoying.
This is how you activate the function
According to the Android blog Androidpolice, you can find and activate the function in the navigation settings in the general settings. The feature should be switched off by default, so you would have to activate it manually first.
Androidpolice writes that the feature is currently being released gradually, but is already available to some people. It may not be available on your smartphones yet, but it shouldn’t take long and the innovation will make your navigation easier.
