Following a recent update, Google Maps, the most used GPS navigation application around the world, displays a feature much awaited by Android users. This new feature allows quick access to weather information as well as the air quality index while navigating the map.
Now, when you open Google Maps for Android, you will notice a small rectangle in the upper left corner of the interface. This icon displays both real-time temperature and possible precipitation, such as rain, snow, etc. Below, a small colored dot indicates the air quality index (ATMO), ranging from light green for good air quality to dark purple for extremely poor conditions.
By clicking on this weather widget, users can access detailed weather information, including felt temperatures, 12-hour forecasts, and the day’s maximum and minimum temperatures. Additionally, they can view the Air Quality Index and browse the map to get more accurate information about the air quality in surrounding areas.
This functionality, although initially reserved for the iOS version of the app, is now available on Android from version 11.113 and now allows you to better organize your trips. For users who do not yet see this new feature, it is best to force the application to stop for a possible update.
