  • A bug in Android 12 is currently annoying users of a wide variety of cell phones.
  • Because of this, the picture-in-picture mode cannot be used.
  • Currently there is only one patch for Pixel phones.

Google released Android 12 last fall and is currently fixing minor bugs. Now there are apparently problems with the picture-in-picture mode.

In the Google support area, complaints are accumulating that it can no longer be used with a wide variety of apps after the update to Android 12. Google Maps, Netflix, Facebook and YouTube, among others, are said to be affected.

January patch fixes Pixel phones

There is currently no workaround for the bug. Restarting the device, clearing the cache, deleting data or updates does not bring any improvement. Apparently Google has already found a solution. The January security update has since solved the problem, at least on Pixel phones. The bug still occurs on smartphones from other manufacturers.
